Tripura Farmers Pledge to Free India from BJP Rule

Agartala, November 13, 2019:

Jitendra Choudhury, former MP of Tripura and CPI(M) central committee member has alleged that mothers are selling their children; people are mortgaging their ration card for food, only in Tripura. He said that it has never happened in Tripura earlier.

He was addressing a gathering at Agartala called by the peasant wing of the CPI(M). In that rally he said, “Farmers are the Anna-Data but the BJP not only in other states, in Tripura also has no concern about farmers’ real problems, except few publicities.

"Water-pumps left damaged for years, irrigation system in pathetic state, subsidies in various products are snatched, whereas before the election, the party promised to double farmers income” Choudhury said, adding "if the Modi Govt can relax corporate taxes, why it can not do the same with farmers?"

The CPI(M) organized a mammoth rally at Agartala on Wednesday, demanding increase of the wages of MNGREGA to 340 and provide 200 days employment under the MNGREGA scheme in Tripura.

It was a record breaking public gathering by the left front supporters at Agartala since they uprooted from the power in 2018 assembly election.

The left supporters were gathered voicing against BJP Govt’s decision of scrapping various subsidies to the farmers in agriculture related products. CPIM’s rally was joined by party workers, who arrived from various corners of the state since early morning.

CPI-M’s farmers rally also has raised slogan for “freedom” with aims of freeing India from BJP rule.

The rally was led by top most CPI-M leaders including former Chief Minister, Politburo member Manik Sarkar.

The rally organized on the basis of 12 points demands. On the basis of those 12 points demands All India Krishak Sabha (AIKS) peasant wing’s of CPIM, Tripura Khet Mazdur Union organized a mammoth rally at Agartala. They also demanding for loan waiving for the farmers, provide farming materials like seed, pesticide in subsidized rate by the government.

AIKS leader Pabitra Kar told that, the police did not allow them for procession. He said after the cancelation of the procession they organized a meeting at paradise Chowmuhani, Agartala.

In the meeting former MP and CPIM leader Jitendra Choudhury addressed the gathering. "Before coming to the power BJP promised to provide 200 days work under MNGREGA scheme and wages will be 340 rupees. But in last 20 month they did not fulfill their promise. He also alleged that, the villagers are not getting the work under this scheme properly. He alleged that, after forming the state government there is no scheme has been started by the BJP", he said.

Jitendra Choudhury alleged that people are not getting work and food in the villages. Many villagers of Tripura are going to outside of the state searching job. He said even they also going to Bangladesh also.

He said that the government is also encroaching upon democratic rights of the common people and alleged that political freedom has been curtailed.

Narayan Kar former MP and CPI(M), alleged that, the ruling party's cadres are looting the wages of MNGREGA from the villagers in the Tripura.
