AGARTALA: Tripura government has made COVID-19 screening mandatory in the Agartala airport for everyone arriving in Tripura from other states, having a high prevalence of the infection.
These guidelines were issued by a high-level state committee on COVID-19 prevention.
Passengers coming from overseas will also be subjected to Covid-19 tests at the airport.
The committee, however, made no mention of those arriving in Tripura by train or other means.
10% of those coming from other states will be tested.

The majority of those who have tested positive in the last few weeks have traveled to a Covid-19-affected state.
Thus, the members of the Covid-19 Technical Advisory Committee of doctors on March 26 cautioned against leaving the state unless absolutely necessary.
33487 people are so far affected in Tripura, while 89 patients have died due to the infection.
The state has as many as 51 active cases. 33024 people have recovered so far.
