Tripura | Jawan arrested from Agartala airport with 15 bullets

Agartala, May 21, 2019:

A Tripura State Rifles (TSR) jawan posted at 2nd battalion was arrested from Agartala airport with fifteen live bullets under his possession on Monday.

Police sources have disclosed that the TSR jawan identified as Babul Shil of Jalafa area of Sabroom in South Tripura district of Tripura, was ready to leave Agartala through an Indigo Airlines flight headed to Manipur. It has come to light that the jawan was posted at 2nd battalion of TSR and attached at Sidhai police station.

During normal checking of all passengers, CISF jawans posted at the airport found fifteen live rounds including rounds of 5.56 MM, 7.621 MM rifles and 9MM pistol. All of the seized ammunition was were found hidden in a luggage of the jawan which he was reportedly going to take to Manipur.

As a result of the discovery of the live bullets in his possession, the TSR jawan was arrested and handed over to police authorities at the Airport police station for further legal proceedings.
