IMPHAL: Security forces on Thursday arrested two cadres of the proscribed United National Liberation Front (UNLF) and recovered arms, ammunition and explosives from their possession.
A team of police and Assam Rifles personnel, acting on a tipoff, apprehended the two cadres from Bishnupur town of Manipur’s Bishnupur district.
One of the two has been identified as Lanjingba Singh (40), nephew of UNLF chairman Pambei Khudongbam.
Police said the cadres were planning to plant explosives and target security forces in Bishnupur.

The recovered arms and ammunition included a .32 mm pistol, a .32 mm pistol magazine, a M20 pistol magazine, eight live .32 mm rounds, an improvised explosive device (IED) gelatin pack weighing 415 gram, two detonators, a 12V battery, an electronic safety fuse, a cordless remote control initiator and a pair of 9V batteries.
All the items have been handed over to Bishnupur police station.
