GUWAHATI: Worrying because the popular social media applications -- WhatsApp, Facebook, and Instagram are inaccessible.

Thousands of people are currently not able to access the services of the aforementioned social media sites.

Therefore, social media users from many regions are taking to Twitter to report the issue.

These popular applications are experiencing outages and seemed to be not working in both the respective smartphones, iOS as well as Web platforms.

A rise in complaints confirmed that a huge number of individuals are unable to access WhatsApp, Facebook, and Instagram, according to Downdetector.com, a website that detects issues related to traffic on major websites.

Whatsapp users are unable to send or receive new messages neither they can view status.

More than 20,000 users have complained that WhatsApp isn't working properly for them.

The error message 5xx Server Error is also displayed on web.whatsapp.com.

On Instagram, users are unable to log in, refresh their feed, or send direct messages, which is a similar occurrence (DMs).

The problem appears to have affected people late in the evening, with the outage beginning around 9:15 pm

It is not the first time that apps like WhatsApp, Instagram, and Facebook have gone down.

Earlier in March 2021 also there was a similar outage.

Since these applications are not working for the moment, users may use alternate methods of messaging such a Signal and Telegram in case of emergencies. Users can also mail.

Tens of millions of people could be affected by the outage,  as per reports.

Meanwhile, the official pages of the social media sites took to Twitter and issued statements.

WhatsApp wrote on Twitter, "We’re aware that some people are experiencing issues with WhatsApp at the moment. We’re working to get things back to normal and will send an update here as soon as possible. Thanks for your patience!"
