Air India Flight Delayed for 8 Hrs, Passengers Asked to Board and De-Board 4 Times

New Delhi, November 16, 2019:

The country’s largest air carrier, Air India’s Pune-New Delhi flight was delayed for 8 hours on Thursday night, making 150 passengers board and de-board the flight four times, causing them extreme inconvenience.

The flight AI 854 was scheduled to take off at 10.15 pm on Thursday and arrive at 12.25 am in New Delhi. The flight suffered a technical glitch and left 150 passengers stranded at Pune airport and asked to board and de-board several times. The passengers who had connecting flights to New York, London, and Frankfurt, missed their flights.

Reportedly, the fight was finally departed at 6.15 am on Friday morning.

On October 30, an IndiGo A320neo plane that was bound from Kolkata to Pune stalled mid-air for which the pilot was forced to return to the Kolkata airport. This is the fourth such incident involving PW engines at the low-cost carrier in one week.

IndiGo had three in-flight PW engine shutdowns on three consecutive days from October 24 to 26. This compelled the aviation regulator Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) to visit the airline’s premises on Monday to review the maintenance and safety data.
