Flipkart and Amazon have swept the e-commerce market on Day 1 of its annual festive sales.
The e-commerce giants made record sales in the opening day of their Big Billion Days and Great Indian Festival, the annual festive sales ahead of Durga Puja.
While Amazon recorded a whopping sale worth Rs. 750 Crore within 36 hours in its smartphone segment, Flipkart witnessed a two-fold increase in its festive sales. The latter swept the market in the beauty, baby care, private labels and furniture categories.
Walmart Inc-owned Flipkart and rival Amazon Inc said on Monday have been giving a tough competition to the offline retail markets. Due to the two’s convenience factor and ‘shop from home’ factor, the two have been controlling the online market.
Flipkart and Amazon offers heavy discounts during their annual sales on all the categories. From clothes, smartphones to home appliances, the e-commerce majors keep their discounts’ window open for customers.
