GoAir carries passengers without permission, DGCA to investigate

CHENNAI: The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has started its investigation of a recent incident wherein a cargo-only flight of GoAir took off from Chennai with almost 160 passengers on board, without the clearance to land at the destination.

The flight, G8-1305, that took off from Chennai at 3 pomander returned there at 5.15 pm after the GoAir realised it did not have clearance to land at Port Blair airport.

According to DGCA, the regulator is probing the incident and if the flight was meant to serve as a cargo-only flight.

Reportedly, The GoAir flight took off from Chennai to Port Blair and turned back/diverted due to operational reasons and landed in Chenna with 160 passengers.

“The airline sincerely regrets the inconvenience caused to the passengers,” the spokesperson added.
