Mumbai, August 26, 2019:

Planning to buy some jewellery? Well, you might have to reconsider that as gold prices in Mumbai touched a new high of a little over Rs 40,000 per 10 gm, on Monday, industry players said.

Experts have opined that if the current trends continue, the prices might soar higher, and reach upwards of Rs. 41,000 per 10 grams.

However, as the wedding and festival seasons begin next month in India, which are incomplete without gold, the demand for the coveted metal is only expected to be affected marginally.

It may be mentioned that India consumes an average of 700-800 tonnes of the precious yellow metal annually.
