Relief to Households as LPG Prices Slashed by Rs 100

Guwahati, June 7, 2019:

The price of Non-subsidised cooking gas (liquefied petroleum gas or LPG) has been cut by Rs. 100.50 per 14.2 kg cylinder from July 1, 2019, the Indian Oil has announced.

The non-subsidised LPG gas cylinders will be available for Rs 637 per cylinder instead of the earlier price of Rs 737.50. This move is expected to bring much relief to the households who use LPG to cook. The recent hike in the price of LPG had caused much controversy, with Trinamool Congress supremo Mamata Banerjee denouncing the Narendra Modi-led administration of raising prices just after the conclusion of the election.

An IndianOil statement said that this cut is based on LPG Prices in international market and dollar-rupee exchange rate.

Accordingly, the upfront cash payment by the consumer of domestic LPG will also be reduced by Rs. 100.50 per cylinder.

For July 2019, the centre will bear a subsidy of Rs. 142.65 a cylinder that is transferred to the bank account of LPG consumers after purchase and delivery of a refill.
