Although, India has now more than 509,000+ total COVID-19 positive cases and the death toll is now 16095, as per data released by the Union Health Ministry. Active cases in India stand at 203051 while 309712 have been cured or discharged so far. The number of recoveries as against active cases has exceeded more than a lakh. The rate of recovery is now at 58.56%. This is seen as a positive as the country heads for unlock 1.
Among the states, Maharashtra is the first state to cross 7 thousand deaths. It has recorded 159133 corona cases with 84245 cured, 7106 deaths, and 67615 active cases. The western state is followed by Delhi and Tamil Nadu. Delhi has corona 80188 cases with 49301 cured, 2558 deaths, and 28329 active cases. Tamil Nadu has 78335 positive cases with 44094 cured, 1025 deaths 33216 active cases. Gujarat with 30709 COVID-19 cases, so far, has 22409 have been cured, 1789 deaths, and 6511 active cases. In all of these states, the recovered cases have been increasing.
In Assam itself, 567 patients were discharged on 27th June. The rate of recovery has reached 69.5%.

Earlier, Union Health Minister Dr Harsh Vardhan said India’s recovery rate was nearly 60 per cent, while the fatality rate was near 3 per cent. The doubling rate is now 19 days. “Our mortality/fatality rate is near 3 per cent which is very less. Our doubling rate has come down to near 19 days, which was three days before the lockdown".
TO stock of the situation, PM Modi said, "During unlock phase, we have to be more cautious and have to follow social distancing norms to keep ourselves, others safe from COVID-19".
