International Cherry Blossom Festival begins in Shillong

Guwahati, November 14, 2018:

The four days unique International Cherry Blossom Festival 2018 kick started from Wednesday with several cultural events at Shillong.

Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma inaugurated the festival at Polo 5th Ground. The Japanese Ambassador to India, Kenji Hiramatsu will be leading a Japanese delegation that will engage in a dialogue at the State Convention Centre, entitled ‘Celebrating the Shillong-Sakura Connect- Idea Exchange on Socio Economic Partnerships’. This is being organised by the Government of Meghalaya, FICCI Forum of Parliamentarians and the Embassy of Japan in India.

The celebration continues to promote the socio-economic flourishing of Northeastern India like fashion shows, rock concerts, beauty pageant and amateur golf tournament inviting more tourists. Along with this, stalls showcasing the region’s food, wine, crafts and several Japanese cultural events have also been set up.
