Guwahati, December 16,2018:

D Eloziia, belonging to the Mao tribe, was crowned Miss Barak 2018 in the first state level Barak festival at Senapati district headquarters, approximately 60 km north of Imphal. The girl, a native of Robunamei village, was awarded a cash prize of Rs. 1.3 lakh.

The first runners up, Nengoichong Haokip, was awarded a prize of Rs.1 lakh and second runners up, Vaihochong Haokip, won Rs. 70,000.

The festival was held for two days (13th and 14th December) to raise awareness to conserve the Barak, the largest river in Manipur.

Chief attractions included the Miss Barak Beauty Contest, Barak Voice Hunt and the Tribal Euphony 2018. It was officially inaugurated by Manipur Chief Minister N. Biren Singh.
