As the anticipation mounts for the outcome of the Lok Sabha Elections 2024, the Kokrajhar district administration has left no stone unturned in ensuring a tranquil vote counting process scheduled for June 4.
Returning Officer Pradeep Kumar Dwivedi has affirmed the comprehensive arrangements made to guarantee a smooth and orderly counting process at the five designated centers across the region. These centers, strategically located in Gossaigaon, Kokrajhar, Kajalgaon, Bijni, and Mashalpur in Baksa, will oversee the counting for the Kokrajhar Lok Sabha constituency, spanning three districts - Kokrajhar, Chirang, and Baksa.
A workforce of 27 Assistant Returning Officers, along with approximately 750 counting personnel, has been diligently deployed to oversee the meticulous counting process. Additionally, a robust three-tier security framework has been established to safeguard the integrity of the Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs).
In a proactive measure to maintain law and order, the Kokrajhar district administration has enforced Section 144 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC) within a 100-meter radius of the stronghold - the Basic Training Center Kokrajhar.
Dwivedi expressed confidence that the counting process would mirror the peaceful polling phase, which concluded without any untoward incidents. He urged all stakeholders to uphold peace and harmony during this critical juncture.
