Assam cabinet minister Pijush Hazarika stated that Gaurav Gogoi's sudden entry into Assam's state politics led to the decline of the Congress party.
Hazarika suggested that Gogoi's 'parachute' landing, a term typically used to describe a swift and unforeseen political move, had a negative impact on the party's standing in the state.
Addressing the media, Hazarika said, "Gaurav Gogoi along with his father Tarun Gogoi removed us from the party. The downfall of the state Congress party is because of Gaurav Gogoi. If Gaurav Gogoi didn't use a 'parachute' for his political entry, maybe Congress would have been in a better position."
Further Hazarika claimed that from his youth days onwards, he actively participated in the organisational events of Congress from the grassroots level, however, Gaurav Gogoi didn't do any such activities.
"He (Gaurav Gogoi) came from nowhere and made party leaders leave the party including Himnata Biswa Sarma and in the end left no one to run the party," he added.

Hazarika on the sidelines also assured that Gaurav Gogoi would lose against BJP's Topon Kumar Gogoi with a margin of 2-3 lakh votes.
Speaking on the Congressmen joining the BJP party, Hararika claimed that the people who are campaigning for Gaurav Gogoi eventually left the party and joined the saffron party, naming a few many.
"They have felt and seen it Gaurav Gogoi won't win the LS polls...PM Mosi will become the Prime Minister," he added.
Responding to a question from reporters about Akhil Gogoi, the minister said, "I have no idea about Akhil Gogoi, but one thing I know is that we will lead in the Sivasagar constituency. We will lead in Akhil Gogoi's constituency Sivasagar."
When reporters sought a response from the minister on Gogoi's allegation that there was no coordination between the Congress, Minister Pijush Hazarika said who will coordinate with the Congress, no one trusts anyone. The man who is with Bhupen Borah today joined the BJP tomorrow. Almost all Congress workers are in touch with us, the minister said. He said he does not think there is opposition unity in Assam in the context of the Opposition Unity Forum.
Minister Piyush Hazarika recently conducted several election campaign meetings in Sivasagar district, each attended by 2000 to 3000 people. Hazarika, representing the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of the Jorhat Lok Sabha constituency, was present at these meetings in support of candidate Tapan Gogoi. The meetings were held at Barua Ali of Halwating from Nazira, Halwating Bazar and Barbam Tea Estate in Amguri.
Despite adverse weather conditions, there was a significant turnout of voters. In a press interaction, Hazarika stated that there is a lack of unity in the opposition in Assam, particularly in the Sivasagar constituency.
He also predicted that those who have campaigned alongside Gaurav Gogoi will join BJP. He further criticised the Congress for their lack of coordination.
