Assamese filmmaker Rima Das’ latest movie ‘Bulbul Can Sing’ is set to hit the theatres of Assam on Friday.
Das is hopeful that the movie will grab more attention among the youths, especially the college-going students.
‘Bulbul Can Sing’ is a coming-of-age drama about a teenage girl named Bulbul residing in a village in Assam, fighting her way through love and loss.
Addressing the media, Rima Das said that the movie will hit the theatres of other states on September 27. She added that the movie was screened at the prestigious film festivals in Toronto Film Festival.
‘Bulbul Can Sing’ bagged the Rajat Kamal Award in the regional language film category at the 66th National Film Awards. It also bagged the National Award for the Best Assamese Film for 2019. It also won the Best Indie Film at the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne (IFFM) in Victoria, Australia.
The movie also won the Golden Gateway Award at the 20th edition of Jio MAMI Mumbai Film Festival with Star.
