The Queen of Melody has lent her voice to over a thousand Hindi films and more than thirty-six regional languages.
Recently, Mangeshkar lent her voice to the cause of saving the Aarey forest, located next to the Sanjay Gandhi National Park in Mumbai.
The legendary singer took to Twitter to say, “To cut down 2,700 trees and invade the natural habitat for so many species would be a tragedy. I firmly oppose this move and I earnestly request the government to look into this matter and save the forest. #SaveAareyForest”
This was in response to the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation’s (BMC) decision to clear the proposal for felling of over 3,000 trees in Aarey jungles. Now, the Mumbai Metro Rail Corporation Limited (MMRCL) has the necessary clearance to make the car shed for the Mumbai Metro 4 project.
