Guwahati, January 9, 2019:

Popular music composer and singer, Vishal Dadlani, who has lent his voice in support of the nationwide stir against the Citizenship (Amendment) Act, has hailed the people of Assam for leading the charge against the contentious Bill-turned-Act.

Taking to Twitter, Dadlani wrote, "Assam, we hear you, we see you, we stand as one with you. What you have been through with the failed NRC makes the entire Nations fight against CAA and NRC stronger."

"You are leading India, even if the mainstream media hasn't realised it yet. Joi Ai Axom, my friends", Dadlani further added, signalling his salute to the Assamese motherland via the popular slogan 'Joi Aai Axom' (glory to mother Assam).

Recently, Dadlani, who is a known-critic of the dual BJP policies of CAA and NRC, was also seen joining a protest organised by students at the Gateway of India against the violence in Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) campus on January 5.

"We are here in support of a secular India, there is no other motive behind me joining this protest. One India for all," Vishal Dadlani told reporters, during the protest.

It may be mentioned that the passage of the Citizenship Amendment Act by the BJP party sparked nationwide protests, as it marked the first time that citizenship had been granted in India on the basis of religion. Union Minister Amit Shah's recent announcement of a nationwide NRC has also been met with similar resistance.
