Guwahati, October 28, 2018:

Many a times, we have seen Bollywood stars trying out something different from their usual genre, which often does not turn out in their favour. A similar experiment has been made by Sharman Joshi, who is popularly known for comedy dramas, with his latest suspense thriller Kaashi- in search of Ganga.

Director Dheeraj Kumar’s Kaashi managed to mint Rs 20 lakhs in its opening day. The reason for such an average moolah could be reportedly attributed to its lack of major promotion.

However, the film has not been well received by the audience as well as critics because of its poor plot structure and lame dialogues.

Devina (Aishwarya Dewan), a print journalist from Lucknow meets and falls in love with Kaashi (Sharman Joshi), a dom from Banaras. But things go upside down when Ganga, Kaashi’s sister, goes missing. In their utter confusion, the duo realises that there is more into this missing girl story than meets the eye.

The film in its totality encompasses a poor narrative, weak direction and laughable supporting performances. The character design is too clichéd and the setup has a dated approach. The dialogues in some of the scenes make no sense, especially in the court room scenes in the second half of the film. The judges and the lawyers try hard to make sense of something that is so frivolous.

Overall, it otherwise could have been an interesting story, if plotted strongly and logically. Now it would be interesting to see if the film could acquire more in its coming run weeks.
