Acclaimed filmmaker from Assam, Rima Das, during the India Today Conclave East 2019 admitted that her journey to the top was filled with struggles.
During a panel discussion, Das said that she hails from Assam, from a village where films are supposed to be watched and not made.
Das reveals that she initially went to Mumbai to become an actor, but it was not easy and there was constant rejection.

Admitting that her language was not good and she was lacking in confidence, she admitted that she was going through a 'hard time' on the personal front as well.
It was during that time, that she fell in love with world cinema, Das admits. Watching Satyajit Ray's films and Iranian films marked a turning point in her career.

Rima Das reveals that her journey into the world of filmmaking began with "belief", even though she did not have much technical know-how.
So, she bought a small camera and that's how she started my journey. What happened next, is history. Rima went on to direct the national award winning films 'Village Rockstars', which was also a major box-office success, considering its minuscule budget.
