Guwahati, July 10, 2019:
In a matter of great pride for the people of the Northeast, 'King Khan' Shah Rukh will present Rima Das' second directorial venture, 'Bulbul Can Sing' at the Indian Film Festival to be held in Melbourne city of Australia.
The annual festival which is held to promote Indian films in the land down under, will be opened with a screening of the Rima Das feature.
The film’s opening night screening will be attended by Chief Guest, Shah Rukh Khan, who will present the film to the Australian audiences in Melbourne. The screening will be held on 8 August.
Expressing her excitement, Rima said, “I love the enthusiasm and exuberance of an opening night. So excited that Bulbul Can Sing is the opening night film at Indian Film Festival of Melbourne. Special thanks to the organisers. The film has truly been special for me as a filmmaker. The response and appreciation we have received from across the places we had traveled to with the film is also very special. I’m looking forward to the Australian premiere of the film and interacting with the audiences there and having a conversation with them on cinema."
It is to be mentioned that Rima's first film, 'Village Rockstar', was universally acclaimed and was chosen as the pick to represent India at the Oscar stage in the 'Best Foreign Film' category.
The Assam filmmaker also won India's National Best Film and Best Editor Awards, announced on 13 April 2018 by Government of India appointed jury headed by filmmaker Shekhar Kapoor.
