Guwahati, July 19, 2019:

Abhineet Mishra, a popular stand-up comedian from Shillong has raised some pertinent questions during a routine while flood continues to ravage the State of Assam.

Abhineet Mishra this time has taken up the biggest issue, floods, especially in Assam and Northeast.

In a stand-up comedy routine performed in an empty room with empty chairs, Abhineet expressed that it is ironic as the Northeast is always left 'unheard'.

He released a video which hilariously, yet realistically, depicted how the north-eastern states are being affected by the flood and further expressed the tragedy of it all as "nobody cares", referring to the negligence of the mainstream media towards the flood problem in these areas.

He explains how the states of the Northeast remain submerged during the flood for 60 to 90 days during the monsoon period from July to August, yet nobody in mainland India is concerned about their plight.

The stand-up comedian also points out the lackadaisical attitude of national media in comparison to the issues faced by the rest of the country.

He also slammed the politicians for not reacting to this dire situation. Moreover, he also lamented the poaching of the endangered one-horned Rhino, the state animal of Assam. "Poaching is the biggest threat in Assam's Kaziranga National Park during floods, as the one-horned rhinos are exposed to poachers", he said.

Mishra also says in the video: "Government is just acting to Act" in the name of Act East Policy.

It is to be mentioned that over 53 lakh people have been affected by the floods with a maximum loss of property and lives along with livestock.
