'Superstar' Rajinikanth Completes 44 years in Indian Film Industry

Chennai, August 18, 2019:

44 years ago, on this day, the people of Tamil Nadu saw a charismatic man make his entrance in Kamal Haasan’s 'Apoorva Ragangal'. Nobody could have predicted that this man, Rajinikanth, would go on to change the complexion of Indian cinema forever. He would eventually go on to become the man, the myth.

The Superstar has completed 44 years in the industry and his fans are celebrating it on Twitter.

On all social media platform a hashtag #44YrsofUnmatchableRAJINISM is trending. From celebrities to fans, many wished the veteran for this new landmark in his career.

The 68-year old actor started his career by acting in supporting roles. Later, he was seen in antagonists roles in films like Pathinaaru Vayathinile and Aadu Puli Aatam.

In 1978, his first solo-movie, Bairavi, was released. The title 'Superstar' was also given to the actor during the release of the movie.

From then on, there was no looking back to the stylish star, who became the numero uno of Tamil cinema.

Shivaji Rao Gaekwad, known by his mononymous stage name, Rajinikanth, is an Indian film actor who works primarily in Tamil cinema.

He began acting in plays while working in the Bangalore Transport Service as a bus conductor.
