On August 19, The Supreme Court ordered a CBI investigation into Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput’s death case. The decision was made after hearing actor Rhea Chakraborty’s petition seeking transfer of investigation in the Sushant Singh Rajput case from Bihar Police to Mumbai Police.

The decision was made by A single-judge bench of Justice Hrishikesh Roy. The bench made it clear that it was a court-ordered CBI investigation and that the Maharashtra government cannot challenge this decision. It also clarified that registration of the FIR at Patna was legally valid and adhered to the principles of the Criminal Procedure Code.
Reading out the operative part of the 35-page judgment, Justice Roy also informed that the Maharashtra government must comply with the order. About the inquest proceedings conducted so far by the Mumbai Police, the court directed that all pertinent documents must be handed over to the CBI.

The Mumbai Police declared it as a suicide and has been investigating allegations that he was suffering from depression and had felt slighted by film industry insiders and cliques.
