'Thappad' Screened Free of Cost for Women at Guwahati's Arunadha Cineplex

Guwahati, March 5, 2020:

With the coming of the International Women's Day, Anuradha Cineplex, which is one of the most popular hubs of cinema in Guwahati, Assam, took a wonderful initiative and invited all women for a special free screening of the woman oriented film Thappad starring Taapsee Pannu.

Early in the morning today, at 11 am, women were treated to a screening of the film that has been in the conversation and imagination of the national and international film fraternity and intelligentsia for showcasing woman power.

Thappad, directed by Anubhav Sinha, deals with a very sensitive topic: domestic abuse. The synopsis of the film reads: "A woman reevaluates her marriage after her husband slaps her in the face in front of a group of people at a party."

Helmed by Article 15-famed Anubhav Sinha, Thappad hit the screens on February 28. Sinha's directorial earned Rs 14.66 crore in the opening weekend. With this, Thappad has registered net box office collection of Rs 21 crore (approx) in total six days.
