Assam’s musical icon Zubeen Garg on Thursday lamented on Chief Minister Srabananda Sonowal-led Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government over its 'division policies'.
Attending a protest against Citizenship (Amendment) Act at Tongla in Assam’s Udalguri district sung his famous song “Politics Nokoriba Bondhu” literally meaning “Don’t do politics, my friend” and added, “Politics Korileu Vul Najaba” (Even if someone does politics, don’t get swayed).

Adding that the government is using their tricky divisive policies to divide the people, Zubeen said that the protest is a “democratic right” and it will not be dissolved until the voices of the people are not heard.
The music icon, extending his support to Assam’s peasant leader Akhil Gogoi, Dhaijya Konwar and Lachit Sena leader Shringkhal Chaliha, said, “These leaders have been arrested through legal terms and so we will have to follow legal procedures to get them free.”
Krishak Mukti Sangram Samiti (KMSS) chief Akhil Gogoi, and general secretary Dhairjya Konwar were arrested by the NIA. Whereas, Central Organising Secretary of Lachit Sena, Sringkhal Chaliha and other protesters were arrested by police who have been leading the protest against the Citizenship Act.
