HAITI: At least 304 people were killed and more than 1,800 people were injured in a massive earthquake that struck in the Caribbean nation of Haiti on August 14.
Prime Minister of Haiti, Ariel Henry announced a month-long state of emergency, claiming "severe damage."
He had further mobilised a team to work on the relief effort.
According to reports, the local hospitals, in particular, that of Les Cayes, were overwhelmed with wounded, fractured people.
United States President Joe Biden has authorised a "urgent US reaction" to assist Haiti, with USAID working to "evaluate the damage and assist efforts to recover those who have been harmed and those who must now rebuild."
It's worth noting that Haiti is still recuperating from the terrible earthquake that struck the country in 2010.
The earthquake killed over 200,000 people and wreaked havoc on the country's infrastructure and economy.
