DHAKA: Bangladesh has surpassed its neighbouring country India on per capita income as the country reported its per capita income to be $2,227 in the financial year 2020-21.
On the other hand, India's per capita stands at $1,947 which is lesser by $280 than Bangladesh.
The report was submitted by Bangladesh's Planning Minister M.A. Mannan in cabinet last week.
It was also informed that Bangladesh's growth rate has increased by 9 per cent than the last financial year.

Bangladesh's per capita income was half of what India held in 2007 and their economy is now emerging as a bull economy under the leadership of Sheikh Hasina.
IMF had also predicted that by the year 2025, Bangladesh will overtake India once again in per capita GDP and the per capita income of an average Bangladeshi citizen would be higher than an average Indian.
