Dhaka, October 8, 2019:

An undergraduate student in Bangladesh, Abrar Fahad, 21, was allegedly killed by the ruling party's activists for some Facebook posts.

The police have not yet revealed the motive behind the murder that has caused a situation of hue and cry in the state.

Meanwhile, thousands of university students on Monday staged protests in the Bangladesh capital Dhaka. The student was allegedly killed by activists of Chhatra League - the student wing of the ruling Awami League party.

Fahad was a student at the prestigious Bangladesh University of Engineering Technology (BUET) and was allegedly killed over his Facebook post critical of Bangladesh's recent water-sharing agreement with India.

On Saturday, Dhaka and New Delhi signed several agreements, including allowing India to withdraw 1.82 cusecs (185,532 litres per hour) of water from the Feni river during Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's visit to India.
