Around 70 people, who were being put under quarantine at a hotel in China's Quanzhou city in Fujian Province, are reported to be trapped after it collapsed on Saturday evening.
According to reports, the building collapsed at about 7:30 pm local time and 34 people were rescued in the following two hours.
As of Friday, the Fujian province had 296 cases of coronavirus and 10,819 people had been placed under observation after being classified as suspected close contacts.
The hotel, which has 80 rooms, was being used to quarantine the people. Authorities are yet to reveal the reason behind the collapse.
An emergency team has been sent to rescue the remaining 70 (estimated) from the collapsed site.
The virus has reportedly claimed over 3,000 lives, more than 57,000 have recovered. 102,242 cases have been recorded so far in over 65 countries, and the latest death rate has been pegged at 3.4 percent – higher than earlier figures of about 2 percent. (Source: worldometers.info)
