Five rockets crashed into a riverbank near the US embassy in Baghdad’s Green zone, informed the US Joint Operations Command, in a statement.
According to AFP news agency report, three of the rockets had directly hit the US embassy, adding that one had slammed into a cafeteria on Sunday night.

It may be mentioned here that three rockets had struck near the US embassy in Baghdad amid high security on January 21. The US had blamed the Iran-backed paramilitary groups for the incident.

It may be mentioned here that the Green Zone has government buildings and is as tight security. The incident has come days after Iran had fired twelve ballistic missiles at two US military bases in Iraq. The attacks were reported after Iran vowed to retaliate against the US after President Donald Trump ordered the assassination of Iranian general Qasem Soleimani in Baghdad.
