Kabul explosion: Death toll reaches 72; survivor recounts massacre 

The death toll of  reached 72 and over 143 severely injured in the four Kabul explosions that took place on Thursday evening.

KABUL: The death toll of  reached 72 and over 143 severely injured in the four Kabul explosions that took place on Thursday evening.

Reportedly, there were two back to back explosions from outside the Kabul airport.t Two more blasts were reported hours later. The third was a Taliban vehicle hitting an improvised explosive device in central Kabul, reports said.

As many as 13 US soldiers including 12 marines and a Navy medic were among the casualties reported.

Reportedly, the Islamic State (IS) has claimed responsibility for the first two blasts outside the airport.

“We will hunt you down and make you pay. I will defend our interests in our people with every measure at my command,” said US President Joe Biden confirming the bombings were carried out by ISIS-K.

The visuals and pictures of the massacre have shaken the entire globe.

"It was as if someone pulled the ground from under my feet; for a moment I thought my eardrums were blasted and I lost my sense of hearing," said one survivor who was a former employee of an international development group with a US special immigrant visa.

"I saw bodies and body parts flying in the air like a tornado taking plastic bags ... into the air. I saw bodies, body parts, elderly and injured men, women and children scattered in the blast site", he added.

"It is not possible to see doomsday in this life, but today I saw doomsday, I witnessed it with my own eyes."
