A 17-year-old died and 20 others were injured in a mass shooting that occurred on August 9th, 2020 in Washington DC, the DC police department informed. The shooting took place after a dispute erupted during a large outdoor party in Washington, DC. An off-duty officer is ‘struggling for her life’, according to police.
Christopher Brown, 17, died in the shooting that occurred after midnight in a southeast side neighbourhood where people had gathered for music and food, Peter Newsham, the chief of the Metropolitan Police Department, told reporters.
Police said at least three shooters may have been involved, though no arrests were immediately announced. Newsham said a motive for the shooting wasn’t clear. Fellow officers took the injured off-duty officer to a local hospital.
According to the CDC, the US has recorded nearly 5 million COVID-19 cases, and more than 160,000 deaths as of August 8.
