American travelling giant 'Uber' has disclosed that it has received 235 complaints from people who claimed to have been raped between January and December 2018, while they were riding in the company's vehicles in the US.
Reportedly, the company headquarters in San Francisco on Thursday published its Safety Report in the US that provided data compiled in 2017 and 2018 on sexual abuse, homicides and fatal traffic accidents occurred in vehicles.

The report also stated that the incidents of rape defined as non-consensual sexual penetration has increased, compared to 2017’s 229 cases.
These were the incidents reported out of every 5 million trips made by the company in the US.
According to reports, Uber users reported around 3,000 cases of sexual harassment including non-consensual kissing, touching and attempted rape in vehicles in 2018.
Uber in its report added that the case-load was very varied and that the complainants included both passengers who have been victims of drivers and vice versa. This also included a complaint of passengers who had been sexually assaulted by other passengers.

Moreover, as per the reports of the company, a total of nine people were killed inside an Uber vehicle in 2018.
On the other hand, 58 people died in traffic accidents while riding in an Uber car in 2018, one for every 20 million trips on US territory.
