Guwahati, July 2, 2019
The local residents of Deepor Beel area on Tuesday staged a peaceful protest against the construction of the double-line railway track through the wetland.
These locals have been staunch in their opposition to the construction of the second railway track for which the construction began in Azara.
Protestors said, “The railway tracks will pass through the Deepor Beel and the elephant corridors near the Reserve forest area. This will create A threat to the elephants since there will be two railway lines.”
