ASUK calls for Bandh on Independence Day

Imphal (Manipur), August 13

Boycotting the Independence Day celebration, the Alliance for Socialist Unity, Kangleipak, (ASUK) called for a bandh from 5 am to 6 pm on August 15 in Manipur.

The ASUK in a statement said that government in Manipur and several parts of the WESEA region are puppets of the Government of India and so they are planning to celebrate Independence Day but the people of the region do not really have a reason to celebrate ‘Indian Independence Day’.

“Celebrating Indian Independence by the people who have been colonized is meaningless", ASUK said.
