Manipur CM urges sports bodies to develop players’ performance

Imphal (Manipur), September 16, 2018:

Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh has urged various sports associations to develop and enhance performance in the state.

Attending the opening of Funaba Championship 2018 at Khuman Lampak Indoor Stadium in Imphal East district on Sunday, Singh said some sports associations in the state were apparently defunct due to infighting. He said the younger generation should be given a chance to serve these associations.

Singh reiterated the need to hold a special seminar for two or three days to assess the performance of state players in recent national and international tournaments. He also said that the state government was planning to bring experts from Tata Football Academy and Belgium to train budding footballers.
