In a significant move altogether 12 Congress MLAs in Manipur relinquished their party posts and vowed to strengthen the party from the grassroots.
The Congress MLAs announced their resignation as office bearers from their respective posts held at Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee office on Wednesday and resolved to work at the grassroots level for strengthening the organization.
Chief Whip, Vice-Presidents, Treasurer and General Secretaries of Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee tendered their resignation to the Manipur Congress President on the moral ground due to the electoral defeat of Congress in 17th Lok Sabha elections.
The Congress MLAs, without holding any official post of the party, resolved to remain firmly in the Congress and vowed to work for the people of Manipur.
The MLAs who resigned from the posts are Govindas Konthoujam, K.Ranjit Singh, N.Loken Singh, Md.Nasir, DD Thaisii, Kh.Joykisan, Fajur Rahimm, RK Imo Singh, K.Meghachandra Singh, Chaltolian Amo, Alfred K Athur, and D.Korungthang.
