In a sensational twist in the political scenario of Manipur, former Chief Minister and CLP leader Okram Ibobi Singh have sought an appointment with the Manipur Governor Professor Jagdish Mukhi on today to demand an immediate the dissolution of the present BJP government based on the developments which have taken place in Karnataka.
The resolution was taken at a meeting of Congress Legislature Party held at the official quarters of Opposition leader and ex Chief Minister Okram Ibobi Singh, yesterday.
Singh in his demand will appeal to the Governor to dissolve the present coalition government in Manipur and invite the Congress into power.
It is to be noted that Congress in Manipur had won 28 of the 60 assembly seats in the state, the BJP had won 21 in the Assembly election, 2017. However, BJP had formed a coalition later with the support of four MLAs from the Naga People’s Front, four MLAs from Conrad Sangma’s National People’s Party, an independent candidate, an MLA from the TMC and an MLA from LJP and formed the ruling Government in the state.
