Five new legislators were sworn in as ministers at Raj Bhawan in Manipur today. The five legislators are O Lukhoi, O Henery, Vungjagin Valte, Sorokhaibam Rajen and Th. Satyabrata.

O Lukhoi and O Henery are among the legislators who have recently joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). In the last assembly election, they fought in a congress ticket and won the election.

The portfolios to the ministers will be distributed later today or tomorrow.

Earlier in the day, chief minister N Biren Singh dropped a total of six ministers from the state cabinet. The ministers who were dropped are Agriculture, Veterinary & Animal Husbandary minister V Hangkhalian, Social Welfare & Co operation minister Nemcha Kipgen, Education, Labour & Employment minister Th. Radheshyam Singh, CAF & PD minister Karam Shyam, Health minister L. Jayantakumar and Tribal Affairs & Hills minister N. Kayisii.
