The Kuki Chiefs’ Association (KCA), Churachandpur, has alleged that Doukhosat Neishiel, who is the chieftain of Neishiel Veng (village) in Churachandpur, was captured and whisked away by a team of Manipur Police on the midnight of December 15.
The incident was the result of differences among the villagers over the establishment of village church. Ever since the incident, the whereabouts of Doukhosat was not known. He is believed to be under “pro-arrest”.
The KCA condemned the police action and urged the police authorities to release the village head unconditionally within 24 hours. It warned of public agitations in the event of failure to do so.
