Manipur: 11 opposition parties to join protest against Modi govt's policies

IMPHAL: As many as 11 opposition parties of poll-bound Manipur to join nationwide protest against Narendra Modi led government's policies from today till September 30.

Manipur Congress, CPI, CPI(M), NCP, BSP, AITC, AIFB, RSP, JD(S), MPP and PRJP leaders have announced it officially on Saturday in a meeting here at Congress Bhawan.

In the meeting CPI, national executive member and former minister M Nara Singh alleged that since BJP came to power they are on a spree to sell national assets to big corporates. He also held BJP's privatisation movement responsible for the price hike.

Manipur Congress vice president T Mangibabu said during the joint protest the political parties highlight the failures of the NDA government. Mangibabu also accused the central government of getting indulged in activities that are compromising the secular fabric of the nation.

The opposition parties have prepared a 13 point charter of demands before the government.

The opposition parties also asserted to extend support to the nationwide bandh call given by workers on September 24 and farmers' strike on September 27.
