Manipur announces total lockdown for 10 days from July 18

The Manipur government has announced total curfew in the state for 10 days starting from July 18.

IMPHAL: The Manipur government has announced total lockdown in the state for 10 days starting from July 18.

The decision was prompted by the wide prevalence of Delta variant of COVID-19 in the state.

In an official notification, V. Vumlunmang, Principal Secretary of Manipur stated that there is a need to break the chain of transmission in the state.

He further urged the citizens to co-operate the government in combating the virus.

According to the notification, only essential activities related to vaccination, COVID testing. medical services, water services, water supply, power supply, telecom/internet services, air travel and agricultural activities will be allowed in the state.

Manipur Delta Variant Cases

 Manipur Chief Minister N.Biren Singh first confirmed the presence of the Delta variant of COVID-19 in the state on June 18.

So far, the state has recorded 81560 cases of COVID-19 with 8558 active cases. A total of 71662 patients have recovered from while 1340 have succumed to the virus.
