The 46 Assam Rifles commanding officer and his family were killed in a militant attack today in Churachandpur district near S Sehken village, Singngat subdivision, Manipur at around 10 am. Col Viplav Tripathi (CO-46 AR), wife and his son died on the spot and the other injured were shifted to Behiang Primary Health Centre.
Unknown militants, suspected to be valley based groups, ambushed Assam Rifles near S Sehken village near India - Myanmar border, Manipur. The incident spot is close to India-Myanmar border Pillar No.43.
According to reports, six people including 3-QRT were killed in the incident. CO of 46 AR, Wife and Son believed to be among those killed in the ambush.
However the report is yet to confirm.
It is also learnt that two villagers - Lallianmang (35years) and Thangzamang (45 years) were detain by the AR. Later, they were released.
Further investigation underway.
