In continuation of back to back recoveries of contraband drugs, Tengnoupal Battalion of 26 Sector Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ IGAR (South) recovered a total of 3000 WY tablets in two separate incidents. On 22 Jun 2018, at around 1730 hours, based on specific information received regarding movement of contraband drugs from Moreh towards Imphal, a silver coloured Maruti van bearing Regd No MN 02 B0919 was stopped for checking at PVCP, Khudengthabi, Tengnoupal District. While frisking and carrying out through checking of baggage, 1000 WY tablets were found hidden in a plastic bag full of chillies. Approximate cost of the contraband drug is Rs 5 lakh. Churachandpur District along with recovered item has been handed over to Moreh Police Station.On 23 Jun 2018, at around 1100 hours, a blue coloured Maruti Eeco van bearing Regd No MN 01S 0216 was stopped for checking at Permanent Vehicle Check Post, Khudengthabi. While frisking and carrying out through checking of baggage, 2000 WIY tablets were found hidden inside both socks of one of the passengers. Approximate cost of the contraband drug is Rs 10 lakhs. Apprehendee Mr Thenkholun Baite aged 54 years, Son of Late Mr Paojang Baite, resident of Yangoulen, Khengjoi, Chandel District along with recovered item is being handed over to Moreh Police Station.
