Manipur Chief Minister hands over 179 Nepalese trafficking victims to the Embassy

Guwahati, February 18, 2019

Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh on Sunday handed over 179 Nepali trafficking victims, including 147 women to the officials of Nepali Embassy.

The trafficking victims were rescued by Manipur police from different hotels of the state. They were handed over to a Nepalese team led by Counsellor Prakash Adhikari at an official event held in Khuman Lampak in Imphal.

As per sources, they have been staying in eight different centres run by some NGOs.

The Manipur Home Department issued an order on February 16 to pave way for their deportation to Nepal after they sent a letter from the Union Ministry of Home Affairs on February 14.

Prakash Adhikari thanking Manipur government assured that the Nepalese Government would extend full cooperation to the state in any matters in the future.
