Guwahati, December 26, 2018:

Manipur Chief Minister broke his silence regarding the imprisonment of the Imphal-based journalist who has been detained under the National Security Act. He has now been sentenced to 12 months in the NSA’s custody.

CM Biren Singh said that the decision to sentence the journalist was taken by the court and even though we live in the largest democracy in the world and have the right to criticize any figure, there are also some restrictions on that. The CM added that even though he can tolerate personal criticism, the journalist went overboard when he insulted figures of national importance such as the Rani of Jhansi and Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
