In a major haul,the tengnoupal battalion of 26 sector Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ IGAR(South) seized a huge cache of contravent drugs worth Rs 7crores from a jungle track near Khudengthabi,Tengnoupal district , Manipur.

Based on specific information regarding carraige of contraband drugs through the jungle track near Khudengthabi, the team of Tengnoupal Battalion launched an operation on 22nd June, 2018. The team observed some suspicious movement on the jungle track and intercepted an individual, who wan away inside the jungle and managed to flee. However the team of Assam Rifles, successfully recovered two bags containing 7.740kgs of WY tablets and 6.90 gms of brown sugar. The approximate cost of the contraband is Rs 7 crore. The socio-political and economic ramifications of the ongoing illegal drug trade are a major cause of concern of the state of Manipur which is the gateway of India to South-East Asia. Assam rifles rightly christenad as the sentinels of North-East launched a crusade against the illicit drug smuggling in Manipur.
