IMPHAL: The Manipur government has imposed total curfew in the state for the next 10 days starting from July 18. The decision was prompted by the wide prevalence of Delta variant of COVID-19 among the positive patients in the state.
Chief Minister N.Biren Singh first confirmed the presence of the Delta variant of COVID-19 in the state on June 18. On July 12, as many as 205 cases of Delta variant were detected in the stated as stated by the health department.

The state has recorded so far recorded 73047 cases of covid-19 and 1365 related deaths.
In a notification issued by V. Vumlunmang, Principal Secretary of Manipur, has stated that there was an urgent need to break the chain of transmission of Delta variant of Covid 19 in the state.
He further urged the citizens to co-operate the government in combating the virus.
As per the notification, only essential activities related to vaccination, COVID testing, medical services, water services, water supply, power supply, telecom/internet services, air travel and agricultural activities will be allowed in the state.
