Manipur University Staffs’ Association (MUSA) has asked the vice-chancellor, Adiya Prasad Pandey to resign from his post on moral ground following the allegations made against him by Manipur University Students’ Union. Members of the staffs’ association today staged a rally inside the university campus demanding replacement of the VC.The student body launched strike on May 30 demanding the same. The Manipur University Teachers’ Association has also demanded resignation of the VC so that the university returns to normalcy. So far six deans of the university has resigned demanding a solution to the defunct of the varsity with the total shut down strike imposed by the students. Soram Jivankumar, president of MUSA said the locking of the university has prevented not only classes and examinations but also barred our official duties. MUSA demands to bring an amicable solution to the demand of the students, teachers and staffs of the university by June 30 so as ‘to save Manipur University and the students’. “If the authority fails to replace the VC, Pandey should resign on moral ground on July 1,” said Jeevankumar.
